Futureintech is run by the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) and funded by the government through Callaghan Innovation. Our goals are to:

They have nominated Alyona Medelyan, the main organiser, as the ambassador for New Zealand in 2014.

Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) is one of the oldest farmer-owned co-operatives, beginning in 1909 with herd testing. Now, we supply three-quarters of the country’s bull semen, as well as information and automation systems, herd testing and diagnostics to drive efficiency and productivity gains on-farm.  Our R&D division has more than 50 members and includes 15+ PhD qualified scientists, researching genetics (biology and bioinformatics), analytics (statistics and computer science) and prototyping (engineering and computer science).  We have 3 LIC fully-funded PhD students at Auckland University, and two others at overseas universities.  We offer scholarships to students at all levels of University research for areas including computer science, mathematics, statistics, biology, chemistry and bioinformatics.


The Mind Lab by Unitec is a unique education collaboration between a public education provider and a specialist education lab dedicated to enhancing digital literacy capability and the implementation of contemporary practice in the teaching profession. The Mind Lab is a pioneer in digital and collaborative learning reflecting the new theoretical and practical frameworks of contemporary education. Unitec is a leader in applied vocational education with a long history in education from preschool teacher training through to postgraduate education leadership. Frances Valintine and Coco Kim-Corey from The Mind Lab have provided the original idea and helped with the marketing material.
